Naomi Klein is the author of the critically acclaimed #1 international bestsellers, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism and No Logo: Taking Aim at the Brand Bullies which have each been translated into more than 30 languages.  She is a contributing editor for Harper's Magazine, a reporter for Rolling Stone, and a syndicated columnist for The Nation and The Guardian. Additionally, her writing has appeared in The New York TimesThe Washington PostNewsweekThe Los Angeles TimesThe Globe and MailEl PaisL’Espresso and The New Statesman.  Naomi is a member of the board of directors for 350.org, a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis.  She is a Puffin Foundation Writing Fellow at The Nation Institute and a former Miliband Fellow at the London School of Economics.  She holds an honorary Doctor of Civil Laws from the University of King’s College, Nova Scotia.  Her new book is This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate (September, 2014). This lecture is cosponsored by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, 350.org and Green College.

Please note: Tickets for Naomi Klein’s lecture will be available for the general public on a first come, first served basis, from UBC’s Chan Centre for the Performing Arts from October 21 to 26. Please note that there is a limit of 2 tickets per family.

Tickets will also be available for all Vancouver Institute members in good standing from the 2013–2014 program year plus new members as of fall 2014. These tickets will be available at Vancouver Institute lectures on the evenings of October 4, 18 and 25 also on a first-come, first served basis. Please note that there is a limit of 2 tickets per family. Please also note that tickets will be honoured until 15 minutes before the lecture (i.e. 6:45 p.m.) on Sunday, October 26 at 7:00 in UBC’s Chan Centre at the north end of the campus. Parking is available in UBC’s Rose Garden Parkade off of NW Marine Drive.
