Yup. RFC 1123 says ``the give-up time generally needs to be at least 4-5
days.'' RFC 2821 says the same thing.
I used a 7-day timeout in qmail, and I'm glad I did. A few months ago,
large chunks of the Internet were unreachable for several days straight;
naive 4-day timeouts led to widespread delivery failures.
Randy's 1-hour timeout is absurd.
