The Young Parents Program has been providing support group and case management

services to teen parents in the metropolitan tri-county area since 1978.

Case management service models have been community and school based in urban and rural areas.

SERVICES

o Case Management

Case managers assist clients in assessing needs and goal setting.

Referrals to community services are available.

o Counseling

Counselors provide crisis-oriented, brief service, longterm,

couple, and family counseling.

o Groups

The program offers support groups and life skills classes

o Client Support Services

Clothing is available for children and client transportation may be

provided.

o Assessments

Clients receive child development and parenting assessments.

o Safe Housing

Short-term host homes may be provided based on availability and

appropriateness.

BE A SHELTER PARENT

Volunteer to:

o Transport teen parents and their children

o Provide resource materials for children

o Provide clerical support

o Manage special projects

The Young Parents Program works with youth and families to help

children grow by strengthening the capacity of the individual

child and family and helping change the societal conditions of

poverty, racism, and sexism which affect children's growth.
