SoluTrans is initially concentrated in providing services targeted for the Brazilian and Latin American market. Later, we will increase our client/project base and offer services for other marketplaces.

About the owners:

Elaine P. Hagan - In 1987 Mrs. Hagan earned her B.S. in Computer Science from Pontificial Catholic University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Prior to joining SoluTrans, Mrs. Hagan worked at Microsoft for almost five years. Her responsibilities included the translation/localization of several products, such as MS-DOS, Windows for Workgroups, and Windows 3.1. She has also developed programs to improve some of the procedures related to the software localization process. Mrs. Hagan is very familiar with Microsoft applications and others, including: Excel, Visual Basic, Word for DOS/Windows, Access, and Powerpoint. During that time, she also worked as a Software Test Engineer for Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft Word products. Prior to joining Microsoft, Mrs. Hagan worked as a programmer/system analyst at Light, an electric utility company in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During that time she designed and developed a database management system for corporate cost control, and a payroll system. She was also responsible for providing technical support and training to the system users.

Including the ownership of SoluTrans, Walter T. Morales works as a part time Computer Information System instructor for Portland Community College and also in a speech recognition project at the Oregon Graduate Institute. His responsibilities include teaching courses in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Business Technology. Also his experience includes designing and writing technical manuals; translation and copy editing of printed manuals, help files and driver strings into Portuguese. Past experience includes Research Assistant/Computer Programmer for Oregon Health Sciences University. As a private consultant he provided automated solutions to manual systems, staff training, software and hardware evaluation and acquisition. During that time he also worked on the design and implementation of new automated record keeping systems, documenting repair history, training telephone counselors, organization and implementation of a new state-wide telephone system and other database functions. He has a strong knowledge of the major applications running under the IBM-PC and the Macintosh environments. Strong knowledge using and providing business solutions using the Internet. Mr. Morales earned his B.A. degree in Computer Science in 1987 and his Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies including Computer Science in Education, Educational Media and Psychology in 1989 from Western Oregon State University, Monmouth, Oregon. A native of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, he now resides in Portland, Oregon since 1983.
