RE: LMP MIB
Kireeti,
I believe that there are discrepencies between the LMP-MIB draft and current
LMP draft (draft-ietf-ccamp-lmp-03.txt) which need to be resolved in the
LMP-MIB.
- lmpTeLinkOperStatus states do not match the TE Link FSM states defined in
LMP 12.2.1 (the degraded state has been retired)
- lmpVerifyTransportMechanism does not include the J0-trace option defined
in LMP 14.9
- The lmpDataBearingLinkTable does not allow configuration of all the fields
of the Interface Switching Capability and Wavelength subobjects defined in
LMP 14.13.1. LMP 14.14 also allows multiple DATA_LINK subobjects to be
configured - there is no support for this in the LMP-MIB.
I also have some feedback on the updates from the lmp-mib-00 draft made to
lmp-mib-01.
1. Local ifIndex has been removed from the TEL and DBL mismatch
Notifications (traps)
- This significantly reduces the usability of these notifications -
particularly if the local administrator does not have access to the remote
configuration.
- Proposal: reinstate this field.
2. lmpDataBearingLinkNumberingType values are not consistent with RFC 2851
(InetAddressType Textual Convention).
- LMP-MIB defines the values 1,2,3 for unnumbered, ipv4, ipv6.
- RFC 2851 defines the values 0,1,2 for "other", ipv4, ipv6.
- Proposal: to avoid confusion I recommend changing LMP-MIB to use the RFC
2851 values.
3. lmpNbrRetransmitInterval & lmpNbrRetransmitTimeout
- These values should apply to all acknowledged CC messages - including
TestStatusSuccess, TestStatusFailure, ChannelStatus, ChannelStatusRequest
[and also ServiceConfig from the O-UNI spec].
- Proposal: add this clarification to the draft
4. lmpCcHelloDeadIntervalDefault
- The clause "The HelloDeadInterval parameter must be greater than the
HelloInterval parameter..." has been removed. If this is to allow the Hello
mechanism to be disabled by setting both to 0, would it be better to say
"greater than or equal to", rather than not mention it at all?
5. lmpControlChannelDown notification
- This should be generated when a CC transitions out of the up operational
state, by symmetry with the lmpControlChannelUp notification.
