RE: Timer constraint of the HelloInterval and HelloDeadInterval

Title: Timer constraint of the HelloInterval and HelloDeadInterval
Hi,

5ms and 18ms are impossible for my implementation as the timer granularity is about 10ms in my OS. I chose 50ms and 180ms for test, but it still has some "timeout" and the lmp control channel will restart. I ever tried 150ms and 500ms as it was defined in the previous version of lmp draft, but I am not sure whether these values are too big for whole system.

Subject: Timer constraint of the HelloInterval and HelloDeadInterval

Hi,

I have a question of the timer constraint of the HelloInterval and HelloDeadInterval parameters in the LMP dratf,
draft-ietf-ccamp-lmp-05.txt.
The draft have proposed as default values of these timer, 5ms and 18ms, respectively.
But, the example statement above the one describing the default values showed 150ms for the HelloInterval.
I think there is a eding error in default values of 5ms and 18ms.
Is that right?
If so, what are the default values of these parameters?
If not so, could you tell me how to implememt the Hello protocol.
I think there is no realistic way to implement the software based Hello protocol.
As an example, in the layer-1(physical layer) based protection of SONET/SDH network,
the detection time for SONET/SDH is specified with 10ms and the restoration time with 60ms.
The Hello protocol may be not a layer-1 protocol, but a layer-7(application layer).

Thanks,
Young
