extensions in GMPLS signalling for L2SC interfaces
Hi all,
I'd like to ask the CCAMP community, if anybody works on the development of
GMPLS protocols for signalling of L2 information (i.e. ATM/FR/Ethernet). In
the GMPLS architecture is written that GMPLS LSRs include Layer-2 Switch
Capable (L2SC) interfaces as well. However, a lot of work has been done
previously in MPLS WG standardising the MPLS over ATM and FR switches.
The reason why I'm asking is that we proposed an extension in LDP/CR-LDP for
signalling of VLAN tags. Since this extension is needed for a specific
mechanism only, it would be difficult to convince the community to agree on
the proposed changes. Therefore, if folks know about other L2 technologies
needing extensions of GMPLS signalling protocols, we'd be happy to work
together with them to achieve a common solution.
The history:
shortly before the 56th IETF meeting a draft was posted in MPLS WG regarding
a setup of LSP using VLAN tags over Ethernet networks
(draft-kawakami-mpls-lsp-vlan-00.txt). Since this VLAN-LSP method requires
extension of the signalling protocols (LDP, CR-LDP), it was suggested by
some folks to discuss the problem in CCAMP WG.
Currently:
we have submitted a new draft to the IETF. Until the draft editor posts the
new version, you can find it at:
www.pel.panasonic.de/ietf/docs/draft-kawakami-vlan-lsp-signalling-00.txt
This draft is a new version of draft-kawakami-mpls-lsp-vlan-00.txt. Several
changes were done, as the most essential ones are the employment and
extensions of RSVP-TE for explicitly routed path (instead of CR-LDP).
I'd welcome any feedback on these issues, and see what is the people's
thinking.
Thanks,
Genadi
