I totally agreed with this principle. IDN is a basis building block of the
Internet and it would be crazy to design something which has IP encrumbence to
this.

To be honest, I yet to figure out how these IPR things work. So I dont know
how best to answer you since I am relying info what other tells me. But out of
curiousity, does this mean prior publication in I-D would also render a patent
useless?
