                 New Position: Web Internationalization


    The [1]World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is looking for a new team
    member working on [2]Internationalization in its [3]User Interface
    (UI) domain, to assure proper internationalization of W3C technology.

    Your mission is to advance Web internationalization, so that Web
    technology becomes and stays usable for people around the world,
    independent of their language, script, or culture. In coordination
    with the Internationalization Activity Lead, and with the
    Internationalization Working Group and Interest Group, develop and
    review W3C specifications and guidelines with respect to
    internationalization, including followup work with other working
    groups; document existing best practices and contribute to develop Web
    internationalization architecture; give presentations on Web
    internationalization; maintain W3C Internationalization Web site.

    W3C Hosts are located at MIT in Boston, USA, at INRIA in
    Sophia-Antipolis and Grenoble in France, and at Keio University in
    Fujisawa, Japan. You will be based at INRIA, but you will have to
    travel often, to working group meetings or conferences as well as to
    the other W3C hosts.

   Requirements

    As the recognized leader for the technical development of the World
    Wide Web, we seek an individual with both Web technology and project
    management experience, a good understanding of the Web industry,
    eagerness to make the Web more international and interoperable, and
    enthusiasm for the [4]mission and spirit of W3C.
      * You have a background in computer science, software engineering,
        and internationalization
      * You are familiar with up-to-date Web technology, in particular
        with respect to internationalization
      * You have a good sense of the Web industry, its market, practices
        and product development cycle
      * You have good written and spoken competency in the working
        language of the W3C, English, and knowledge and practical
        experience of other languages and cultures
      * You have good communication skills, both written and oral
      * You are free to travel internationally on a monthly basis
