and apparently your personal definition of "working" is one that 
requires nearly everyone on the network to upgrade their software
(and perhaps even hardware), at your whim, and on your schedule - 
or risk breaking critical functionality not only for themselves but 
for others as well.

it's a rather strange use of the word.
