Patrik and Martin on 2001-01-06, 2001-01-07, and 2001-01-08 specifically
mentioned half-width kana as an example of the importance of converting
bad names to good names.
We're supposed to believe that users will be confused if half-width kana
aren't treated the same way as full-width kana in domain names. ``There
are quite a few cases where the degree of determinism and success can be
significantly improved for the end user by additional foldings,'' Martin
said. ``The best example probably is the full-width/half-width folding
for Japanese and some other contexts.''
It now appears that this ``best example'' is bogus. Users won't be
confused at all.
