only browsers were working.
If these two apps are really there, I am surprised that we aren't just
going for UTF-8. History will likely record that it was this WG that
was the biggest barrier to deployment. ACE has outlived its usefulness
already.
Yes, I know that some things will break. Many multilingual apps are
broken in any case, but are being gradually fixed. Each new OS
or new piece of hardware breaks lots of things, but the world goes on.
