for some applications, ACE will be needed for the next twenty years.
we can't expect people to upgrade their applications en masse.
nor would this make good operational sense.

Gut feelings are often wrong, especially when they favor widespread and
disruptive change. I place far more confidence in cost-vs-benefit analysis.
