Actually, I should have been more clear.
There are currently three major versions of BIND
in common usage. 4.x, 8.x, and 9.1.x None of which
will be patched for new features. The 9.x series is still under
evaluation at several ISPs that I know of. If there are features that
need to go into the DNS server, I would think the best time to get them
in is now, before upgrades to 9.x have been completed. The security issue
will just push things forward, the real issue is 9.x is on the upgrade
schedule.
