What I would do is the following:
 - specify an OBJECT clause naming a row
 - describe in the DESCRIPTION clause the
   rules for index values

I would do this because:
 - it is the only way to do this with the current SMI
 - I do not believe that any other approach can be made to
     cover all cases
 - extending the SMI to handle a table that is indexed by
     an integer-based value only "works" for a table with
     a single index, and does not work with string-based
     indices, or OID based indices
