some more on 802.11 to cdma
Some more thoughts on the rqmts document regarding interoperation between
802.11 and a CDMA network
I would think there would be some reference to Mobile IP protocol. I would
suggest the following language:
IETF-standard Mobile IP protocol will be applied within the IP core network
to support movement between heterogeneous networks. In support of mobile
node movement across different supporting IP core networks, each core
network will provide a mobile node with a care-off IP address to use to
advise home and correspondent networks of the mobile node's current
location. The use of network layer protocols and above must be consistently
applied across different access networks, with the core network providing
support for the different data link and physical layer protocols
associated with different access technologies.
Mobile stations will need certain features to support handoff across
heterogeneous networks, but I don't know if this matter would be within the
scope of MWIF. The mobile will need to be able to identify different
available access technologies, have logic for making the best access
selection, and use the link and physical layer protocols appropriate to the
access technology selected.
reference from the draft - * as a session transfers from an
IMT-IS-2000 RAN to an 802.11 LAN
via handoff from one access network to another, the wireless
Internet framework needs to support session continuity both
within
the core and in interfaces to other networks.
