Experience tells us that IANA controlled assignements are a good thing.
I doubt that any reasonable MIB project is being delayed significantly
by the OID assignment.
I sometimes see MIB projects hanging around for months with virtual no
activity and then at the very end people wake up and start to complain
about things that could have just been dealt with easily by putting
more energy into document quality by careful editing and reviewing.
