Some of these tradeoffs were discussed at nanog 21, in particular the time
vs. money graph. Large amounts of high speed ram will cost you for the
FIB. As for the RIB issue, smd had some interesting points regarding
multiple readers/updaters to the RIB, and next hop rewriting, among
others.
