I think examples sections (in this or any other document) are
extraordinarily helpful.  They help the reader to understand the details,
and the help the author by bringing to light incongruities in the normative
text.  I wouldn't be so quick to dispense with that section.  That fact that
it is raising issues tells me it has value.
