I'll switch back to "balancing" since that is more common.

In draft-ietf-grow-anycast, we found that people read overtones of "equal sharing of traffic" into the phrase "load balancing". In cases where we didn't mean to imply an equal sharing of traffic, we used the phrase "load sharing".

The reviewing audience of that draft seemed to support this distinction, for what that's worth.

OK. So I'll keep "spreading" and add some explanatory text.
