Actually, not a problem. 1) Docsis cable modems are bridges not routers and
pass ethernet packets. 2) The "new" MIBs have the proper language for managing
IPv6 customers. The modems themselves will probably have IPv4 stacks only for
a while, but they're managed out of private address space.
The only thing that really needs to be done is enable IPv6 forwarding at the
head end (e.g. in the Cable Modem Termination System - CMTS). That's a $$
decision by the cable operators and by the CMTS vendors based on cable
operator input.
