The device would run DAD on the link it is attached to, but you are correct
that is not going to cover the logical subnet. If it seems necessary and
within scope I could put in a comment about listening to the IGP before
announcing to see if the address already exists for that case, then for the
MIPv6 case the HA already detects duplicates and denies the binding.
