Only because the definition of WAN thus far specifically mentions a strict single physical interface port count. If however, we want to get away from that wording altogether, then I would concur with you. It's then up to the vendor to decide if they want to provide the extra functionality of additional interfaces bridged to the WAN. There are good reasons for doing so but I agree they do not need to be in this document.
