Usual first thing to check: can you open the connection manually?
I.e., does
openssl s_client -quiet -host imap.servername.tld -port 993 -verify 3 \
-CApath ssl-certificate-directory
give you a working connection or an error? If it yields an error, then
we have
something simpler than elmo to debug, and if it works then we have to
find out what elmo is trying to do that's different from the above.
