Purging old locally-cached messages

I would like to remove the locally-cached copies of messages that are older than, say, six months. I had hoped that deleting messages from the gmail server (whether through wanderlust or the gm web interface) and syncing the inbox would also clean up the cache files, but it seems no such luck.

I found a reference online to a cleanup utility for maildir, but no idea if that would apply to my ~/.elmo folder.

At worst, I could use "find" to identify files that are too old and pipe that to xargs -0 rm. This will leave some empty directories behind but at least reclaim some disk space.

Just hoping there's a tidier way.

TIA, James
