Fwd: I-D ACTION:draft-jones-cable-gateway-tools-mib-01.txt

Hi,

The phrase "connection speed tool" in the blurb below makes me nervous,
though I haven't read the draft itself yet.

It might be sensible for an individual on the Transport Directorate
to take a look-see and ensure that nothing bad (from a congestion-avoidance
perspective) is being proposed here.

Thanks,

Ran

Title : Cable Gateway Tools Management Information Base
for CableHome compliant Residential Gateways
Author(s) : D. Jones et al.
Filename : draft-jones-cable-gateway-tools-mib-01.txt
Pages : 19
Date : 2003-1-27

This memo defines a portion of the Management Information Base (MIB)
for use with network management protocols in the Internet community.
In particular, it defines a basic set of managed objects for SNMP-
based management of CableHome compliant WAN Gateway Devices and home
routers. Specifically, this MIB defines managed objects for both a
connection speed tool and an ICMP 'ping' tool between the Gateway and
devices on the LAN.
This memo specifies a MIB module in a manner that is compliant to the
SNMP SMIv2. The set of objects is consistent with the SNMP
framework and existing SNMP standards.

In the body type:
"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-jones-cable-gateway-tools-mib-01.txt".

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
how to manipulate these messages.

implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
