Promoting the IETF meetings

Lynn asked me if we should announce the IETF meetings on the ISOC site.

I replied that I saw no real reason not to put the IETF meetings in the left-hand column of her front page; we're not at a point where a few more people knowing about the meeting is going to hurt us.

Your thoughts?

Subject: Promoting the IETF meetings (was: Here's a mystery)

Bob Braden sent me a mail (copy to Vint and Scott Bradner) asking why the
IETF Meeting was not advertised on our site.

I replied: "Actually to my knowledge, we've never specifically advertised
an IETF meeting - at least not since I've been with ISOC. In fact, for
years the IETF wanted fewer people there and they've always been very clear
that they do not need on-lookers. Those that do the work of the IETF know
all too well the date of the meeting. But, I will check with Harald and
Leslie to see if they want this changed, it's always a good idea to look at
things afresh."

FYI, Scott replied: "these days we need more folk - CNRI is running in the
Red. I think it would be good for teh ISOC to include the info on teh
IETF and not bad for the IETF for the ISOC to do so".

Harald, I'm certainly very happy to promote it, but will not do so without
your approval.

Regards,

Lynn
