Re: Laugh Test: Next Steps in Mobility BOF [nsiim] Request

Thomas,
having a BOF as a "what do we do now" workshop seems to me to be a fine idea.

Note: the idea behind the BOF is to get broader discussion and have
people participate who normally would probably not bother if this was
just part of a normal MIP WG session.

Next Steps in IP Mobility BOF (nsiim)

The Mobile IP working group has defined basic mobility and associated
specifications for IPv4 and is at the verge of finishing the base
specification for IPv6.
I'd say that the Mobile IP WG has defined *one* approach to basic mobility at the IP layer, not that it has defined *the* approach to *any* mobility problem, as the text currently seems to say.

The other question it raised in my mind is where network mobility belongs in the picture - both MIPv4 and MIPv6 have been (perhaps excessively) focused on host mobility. Since I think a single IP device travelling by itself may turn out to be the exception, not the rule (think PAN), I think it's important to keep that item in view when discussing the "shape of the problem".

Looking forward to seeing what comes out of this!
