Well, MSDP was originally meant to be an extension to BGP, and used in the same contexts, so "the same as BGP" seemed to make sense at the time. Now MSDP connections are more likely to be multi-hop than BGP, so maybe that decision doesn't make sense any more (or never did), but that's what the reasoning was. Bill
