Re: **New IESG Internal Web Page**

Hi Thomas:

Where shall I begin....

The good news is that redoing the IESG Internal Web Page has prompted you and others to start reviewing the Web pages accessed via the links on the IESG Internal Web Page. The bad news is that many of these pages are in need of serious work. Furthermore, some of these pages are updated from information sources that do not adhere to stringent format specifications and are therefore not really suitable for this purpose.

As you may recall from my presentation at the IESG retreat, the Secretariat is planning to develop two significant tools related to Working Groups:

(1) A Working Group Tracker, which will be similar to the ID Tracker, and which will allow interested parties to track the status of proposed working groups and rechartering efforts.

(2) A Working Group Information Updater, which will allow chairs and ADs to update information related to their working groups.

Once these tools are developed, the Secretariat (with input from the IESG) will determine which working-group-related Web pages are still required, and what information they should display, and will develop scripts to update them appropriately from the database. At the same time, new subcategories will be introduced under the "Working Group Actions" section of the telechat agenda:

(1) WG Creation
(a) Proposed for IETF Review (i.e., Internal review has been completed)
(b) Proposed for Approval (i.e., External review has been completed...including review by "New Work")

(2) WG Rechartering
(a) Under evaluation for IESG Review (i.e., IESG to determine if a "formal" review process is required or if the changes are small enough to be made without formal review)
(b) Proposed for Approval (i.e., External Review was considered necessary, and has been completed)

In the meantime, we are looking into the possibility of "spiffing up" the Web page that lists working groups that are currently being reviewed by the IESG. We don't want to spend TOooo much time on this task since it is only a temporary fix.

Thank you so much for your input. It is always welcomed...and appreciated :-)

Regards,

Barbara

Under the proposed WG charters page.

It is unclear from looking at the one charter here what type of WG
action it is. Is this a recharter of a new WG? Charter for a new WG?
And, has a copy of it been sent to new-work yet? Lots of ways to do
this (e.g, explicit subsections for each category).

This is the same type of question for a WG charter when it appears on
the agenda, but IMO the information should be here too.
