Re: Fwd: Handle System RFC Note

Bob,
It depends on the purpose of the meeting. If Bob would
like to have a technical conversation on identifiers, I have no
problem with that. Practically, though, I work in the Bay Area
office of Qualcomm, not at the corporate headquarters, so
having a meeting does not seem practical. If I happen to be
in San Diego, we can try, but I have no current business
reason to be there at that time.
If the purpose of the meeting is to renegotiate the IESG's
decision on the wording of this note, then I don't think I have
the authority to do that, and so would not be open to a one-on-one
meeting to discuss it.
Before forwarding around lots of lines of prose, perhaps
you can tell me what exactly puzzles you. For background on
the URN/URI working group interactions or output, for example, I am likely
to ask Lelsie or Michael to carry on the discussion from here,
as the discussions with Sam et al. presumed knowledge there and
so may continue to miss needed context.

Ted,

Thanks for your extensive comments, although it leaves me more puzzled
than ever about the big picture. I wonder whether you could easily
share with me some of the 4000 lines of prose you have previously
devoted to this topic? Perhaps they would help me to understand.

Do I assume from your comments that you are uninterested or
unwilling to discuss this directly with Bob when he visits
Qualcomm on Sept 22?

Thanks,
