I was going to bring up this request to Allison while on the IESG call
this morning, but apparently, she is not on the call today.  Below is a
request to fast track/early assignment an RFC number.  There has been
no response from Allison.

RFC Editor, Allison,

The AVT chairs have received requests for the RFC number to be assigned 
to draft-ietf-avt-mpeg4-simple-08.txt from the ISO/IEC MPEG committee, 
the DVB forum and the Internet Streaming Media Alliance (ISMA).

The ISMA has a textual representation of 
draft-ietf-avt-mpeg4-simple-08.txt in its ISMA 1.0 specification for 
audio/visual streaming, which is to be replaced by a reference to the 
assigned RFC number. This is to go into a corrigenda that also includes 
other items and that is scheduled for publication in the 
November/December 2003 timeframe. The ISMA is also about to publish its 
Encryption and Authentication specification, before the end of this 
month, and this has a normative reference to 
draft-ietf-avt-mpeg4-simple-08.txt.

DVB has approved TR 102 005, "Implementation guidelines for the use of 
audio-visual content in DVB services over IP", containing a normative 
reference to draft-ietf-avt-mpeg4-simple-08.txt. Publication of this 
specification is waiting for an assigned RFC number.

ISO/IEC 14496-8 (MPEG-4 part 8) is fully approved, and the ISO 
secretariat is waiting for the assigned RFC number to correctly 
reference draft-ietf-avt-mpeg4-simple-08.txt.

If it is possible to pre-assign the RFC number, to be included in these 
specifications, we would be very grateful.
