RE: MPLS OAM & the IETF
I vote for option 1.
The IETF should continue to work on IP-centric tools needed for basic IP services.
The ITU should work on the comprehensive set of OAM tools that are needed to make MPLS a robust platform infrastructure capable of supporting multi-services. After all, the ITU has developed Operations and Maintenance standards for ATM, Frame Relay, SDH, ISDN, optical fibers, etc. MPLS equipment vendors should become more involved in the related ITU work.
However, clear channels of cooperation between IETF/ITU are needed and we are waiting for our AD to provide a more precise statement on how this will be achieved.
