RE: Message Transmission in GMPLS

Hi Kireeti ,

PHOP / NHOP is not available in Summary Refresh message , In this
particular scenario ,
the only thing which the user has is the source IP address of the
Srefresh message to identify
the node from where the Srefresh message is received .

Therefore the source IP address plays an important role in identifying
the neighbor from
where summary refresh messages are received .

How is the neighbor identified in this particular scenario.

Again in Resv IF_IDNHOP message consists of two parts , The TLV part of
the NHOP is supposed
to carry the same information which the node has received in the
corresponding Path message
and the PHOP and LIH is supposed to carry the control plane IP address
and LIH , because
of this Resv message is itself not able to identify from which neighbor
it came from , till
we look into the control plane IP address , and in case if we have the
mapping that this
control plane IP address belongs to which neighbor , we can identify the
neighbor .

The main thing is that the destination IP address should ensure that
the rsvp message reaches the intended destination. Read section 8.1.1
of the lsp hierarchy doc and section 10.2 of the generalized rsvp doc.

Remember that the dest IP address is to ensure that the rsvp message
reaches the correct nexthop (*in the control plane*); the source IP
address is mostly irrelevant. The PHOP/NHOP MUST be set correctly so
that the reply goes where it's supposed to.
