Agenda for Minneapolis
All,
Below is the agenda for Minneapolis.
As you will see, we have focused on the charter milestones and existing WG drafts. It is
our responsibility as a working group to clear these off our plate before we pick up new
work.
The likelihood is that many of you will be disappointed and will not get a chance to
discuss your draft at the meeting. Sorry. My recommendation is to proactively take your
discussion to the mailing list. Ask specific questions and raise particular concerns. Use
the feedback that you get (if there is support!) to advance your draft so that it is in a
better state when the WG has the bandwidth at a future meeting.
It is also important for you to look at your draft in the light of the new CCAMP charter.
Precisely how does your draft fit in? Is there a charter item or milestone that your draft
helps to meet? If so, then please be very explicit about this within your draft - there
was a practice of putting a "Summary for the Sub-IP Area" at the start of drafts, and this
captured the reference to the charter. If you find you can't match your draft to a
specific charter item, it is unlikely to see early adoption by the WG and you will need to
raise the wider discussion of the need for your draft.
This brings me on to the subject of requirements... Please be sure that your draft
includes a very clear requirements statement (either a reference to a requirements draft,
or specific in-line requirements). Don't assume that just because the requirements are
clear to you and your colleagues they will be clear to everyone. If the readers of your
draft don't fully grasp the requirements it is likely they will ignore your draft. It is
therefore your responsibility to convey the requirements fully.
Those of you who take editing drafts seriously might want to consider attending...

Finally, before I stop preaching, if you would like to speed up the progress of the WG so
that it reaches your drafts sometime in the current century, I would like to invite you to
make concrete contributions to the existing WG drafts. The sooner we complete them, the
sooner we can move on.
Discussion leaders...
- please recall you are leading a discussion
- you are not presenting your draft (the audience has read it)
- highlight the remaining technical issues
- ask opinions on controversial points
- outline the next steps
- explain how you will meet any associated milestones
</homily>
