Thanks for the clarification.

It is not clear from this document that the significance of U is related to
the so-called "multiplex". I correlated this to the signal type as defined
in Section 2 (SONET and SDH Traffic Parameters).

It would be useful if this can be clarified in the draft.

because this value is significant only when it can be used (and
otherwise set to 0) ie it is the index of an STS-1_SPE/VC-3 in
a STS-3/AUG-1 meaning that the so-called "multiplex" must be at
least an STS-3/STM-1, if it is a STS-1/STM-0 it is of no use, U
is otherwise as table in page 12 indicates set to 0
