Apologies for the delay in responding. I'm not sure that this is the figure 
you are looking for but a quick glance at a few large caches gives me an 
object hit rate of 55-65%. i.e. for every 100 requests, 55-65 are served 
from the cache and not from the origin server.

Generally, caches are conservative on what it denotes as "cacheable". Of 
course you must remember that any real life cache gains most of its hit 
rate from a relatively small number of the large set of objects it stores.

So, I can't tell you what percentage of the *content* is "cacheable" but I 
can estimate that at least 65% of the *requests* are for content that is.
