Re: [idn] opting out of SC/TC equivalence
Hi Everyone,
Tseng has convinced me over a couple of emals on the need for an SC=TC
equivalence for some characters. I now think that some characters might
benefit from an across the border SC=TC equivalence. However, I still think
that this rule should not be applied for all SC characters. I will take
some time to work on CNNIC & TWNIC's list in their TSconv draft and see if I
could improve the list a bit. I would actually like to work with the
authors of the TSconv draft on this too.
In general, I now think that some characters should be mapped as equivalent
(I will give it some more thought) such as:
the chinese characters: U+7D71 = U+7EDF (for those who know Chinese they are
the TC and SC characters for "unite"... loosely translated)
But others which are not really similar should remain individual characters,
such as:
the chinese characters: U+5C08 != U+4E13
