I will throw in a few thoughts. For me, it looks like everybody
likes/uses the PDP and PEP abbreviations. So shy not try to keep these
abbreviations alive rather than inventing something completely new? Of
course, we need to have better explanations for them. What about:
PDP: Policy Decision Point / Policy Distribution Point
Outsourcing and provisioning are different in nature. So probably
having two different explanations for the acronym PDP is not that bad.
On the other hand, one can argue that this causes confusion. And if
oursourcing and provisioning are indeed two pretty different things,
then we should have different terms in order to avoid any confusion:
PDP: Policy Decision Point (used for outsourcing)
PPP: Policy Provisioning Point (used for provisioning)
Of course, the acronym PPP is already used very much in other contexts
- perhaps we need to find something else.
