There is big disagreement here.   You might not able to find the "global
optimum", but there are valid scenarios where the user can know that
specific combinations of source and destination addresses are *good*,
and other combinations are not so useful.

Like:

  - for connections to my corporate VPN use source address A
  - for all the rest, use source address B

argueing that this is "not useful, because you can't know the global
situation" is denying that local constraints can exist that need local
rules.
