Reply from message buffer?

In Gnus, if I want to reply to part of a message, I switch to the
message buffer, select the text I want to cite, and press the key for
followup, which in the article buffer calls
"gnus-article-followup-with-original".  In WL, I have to switch back to
the summary buffer after making the selection, which seems like needless
busywork.  Is there some reason we don't get keybindings in the message
buffer for all appropriate actions (preferably the same keybindings as
they have in the Summary buffer)?
