thanks everyone.  I think I wasn't clear -- what i'd wanted to do was
auto-scan just the one folder, and manually scan the others using
's'.  Th difficulty I was having was figuring out how to scan just the
one folder at startup.  But it's just a small thing, and thanks for
the suggestions!
