Oops, I hadn't noticed that. Interestingly, when I ask kmail to report on 
server capabilities it gives me tls instead of ssl. Perhaps I'm being confused 
by a program that is being too helpful.

OK - this one connects. It doesn't show any updates, so I have to go back and 
find out how to pick up the actual folder contents, but I guess I can read 
around that. The point is that it makes the connection.

I am vaguely curious as to why gnutls can make the connection (when I use !!) 
and wl can't follow through, but that will also have to wait. I have emails to 
read :-)
