Sure, I tried it again and it stills works for me:

A maildir folder unter ~/mail/test, created with maildirmake

,----[ *x* ]
| dmaus@x60s ~/mail % maildirmake test
| dmaus@x60s ~/mail % ls -al test
| insgesamt 20
| drwx------ 5 dmaus dmaus 4096 13. Dez 20:43 ./
| drwxrwxr-x 10 dmaus dmaus 4096 13. Dez 20:43 ../
| drwx------ 2 dmaus dmaus 4096 13. Dez 20:43 cur/
| drwx------ 2 dmaus dmaus 4096 13. Dez 20:43 new/
| drwx------ 2 dmaus dmaus 4096 13. Dez 20:43 tmp/
| dmaus@x60s ~/mail %
`----

A fetchmail config that fetches mail from one of my POP3 accounts

,----[ .fetchmailrc ]
| poll pop.gmx.net protocol pop3:
| username "XXXXXXXXXX" pass "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
| is dmaus here mda "/usr/bin/maildrop"
`----

And deliver via this maildrop config:

,----[ .mailfilter ]
| DEFAULT=$HOME/mail/test
`----

In folder there is an entry for the "test" maildir folder

.test

Finally: Setup elmo-biff to check for new messages inside .test every
60 seconds:

,----[ *x* ]
| (setq wl-biff-check-folder-list (list ".test"))
| (setq wl-biff-check-interval 60)
`----

Fired up Wanderlust, waited some seconds and called fetchmail to
deliver the messages to .test maildir folder. Waited one minute and
-- biff'd.

Running

Wanderlust/2.15.9 (Almost Unreal) SEMI/1.14.6 (Maruoka) FLIM/1.14.9 (Gojō) APEL/10.8

GNU Emacs 23.2.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.20.1) of
2010-11-03 on potassium, modified by Debian

On a Debian testing system.
