Try to connect to it by hands: "gnutls-cli --crlf <server> -p 993" or
"telnet <server> 143" if it does not provide ssl connection, and type:

1 login <login> <password>
2 select inbox (or any other folder you have there)
3 uid search uid 1,* undeleted

and see if that works (comma instead of colon). You can also try
*:*. Old evil corporation have very specific view on standards, but I
don't have access to their Exchange, so can only google for recipes of
how people fight with it.
