If not, I might start looking at the code myself... As far as I am aware there haven't been improvements to WL's NNTP module after the version bump to 2.15.9. I can confirm that NNTP is not-so-fast (compared with IMAP) but I don't get delays in minutes. I profiled then opening of gmane.emacs.help and got the following: ,----[ gmane.emacs.help, 6/6/3666 ]----- | wl-folder-jump-to-current-entity 1 7.3983105479 7.3983105479 | wl-summary-goto-folder-subr 1 7.397545647 7.397545647 | wl-summary-sync-force-update 1 6.482259904 6.482259904 | wl-summary-sync-update 1 6.482250895 6.482250895 | elmo-folder-list-messages 3 5.5310756030 1.8436918676 | elmo-number-set-member 3780 4.1469948059 0.0010970885 | elmo-living-messages 3 4.051441808 1.3504806026 | elmo-folder-synchronize 1 1.934595251 1.934595251 | elmo-folder-list-messages-internal 1 1.220042429 1.220042429 | elmo-net-folder-list-messages-internal 1 1.219921253 1.219921253 | elmo-nntp-read-contents 2 1.006781588 0.503390794 | wl-thread-resume-entity 1 0.39666795 0.39666795 | wl-summary-update-mark-and-highlight-window 4 0.377036253 0.0942590632 | elmo-nntp-read-response 3 0.3535358600 0.1178452866 | elmo-delete-cr 2 0.3435023949 0.1717511974 | wl-summary-insert-message 6 0.3422073830 0.0570345638 | wl-summary-insert-thread 6 0.342158984 0.0570264973 | elmo-message-entity-parent 23 0.2990610539 0.0130026545 | elmo-msgdb-get-parent-entity 23 0.2981807070 0.0129643785 | elmo-msgdb-message-entity 55 0.297951905 0.0054173073 `---- How many total messages are in your NNTP folder of emacs-devel?
