Thanks for this. It does seem to make a difference to cursor movement
(although the computer I'm using at the moment is stupidly fast).

It does still feel like there's something going on with my IMAP
connections, though. As I mentioned, refiling is slow. And checking
all the folders in my Deskop is quite slow too. There are about 150
folders altogther, all but 10 or so are on one server, and the others
are spread over about 5 servers.

I'm reminded that some time ago I disabled the wanderlust biff which I
suppose would have been preventing my IMAP connections from every
timing out. Perhaps this makes a difference; maybe it's having to
re-connect whenever I check my mail?
