Thank you, Kazuhiro. I think the underlying problem is that my work
network was blocking outbound SMTP connections. I have since learned of
an appropriate SMTP server to use while connected to the work
network. This means having to switch SMTP servers depending on where my
laptop is, but that's not too difficult.

My other option is simply to SSH to my home desktop machine from where
ever I am, and run Wanderlust on that.
