BOF report: ispmon
I recommend NOT chartering this as a wg
The meeting consisted of a long presentation of a couple of Sprint
projects and similar things. It was during that phase not clear to me
what the goal of a proposed wg should be.
Over time, the presentations moved over to drafts existing in other
(existing) wg's. It was explicitly said one problem with those drafts
was that no comments had been sent in. One had even expired (one people
seemed to like, by Merike and Hank).
When the presentations turned into discussions, it was clear there was
no consensus inside the community working with these kind of problems
what the problem was, and what this wg would do that other wg's doesn't
do already. If no one is active in other wg's, why would people be more
interested when creating a new wg? Is it maybe the case no one is
interested in sharing the information they have, or that people are
happy doing work outside of the IETF? What is the IETF supposed to do
in this space?
Anyway, there was a big confusion. Humming at the end gave possibly 7
against, 1 in favor which hummed out of 100 people in the room. 8 out
of 100 hummed which possibly say how big the interest is. People were
in the room because there were spare power outlets and to make sure
this possible wg didn't overlap too much with already existing wg's.
