A member of the University of Toronto track and field organization since 1958, Dr Kidd has won 18 national senior championships in Canada, the United States and Britain, and held numerous records, including four world junior records. He was a Gold and Bronze medalist at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games and a member of the 1964 Olympic Team. He has won numerous awards for his athletic achievements and is the only person elected twice to the Canadian Olympic Sports Hall of Fame, first as an Athlete and then as a Builder. In 1997, the Canadian Sports Awards created the Bruce Kidd Trophy to honour an outstanding national team athlete who has given significant leadership to sports. He is currently a member of the International and Canadian Olympic committees.
